Neurodiversity in Care

Synopsis

Kickstart a career as a disability support worker in an area of skills shortage and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Provide individualised support to help your clients improve their independence, engage with their community, and pursue personal goals.

Aim

To skill-up neurodivergent people for jobs in the Disability Care sector. The program will provide neurodivergent individuals with nationally accredited qualification and insights into working in a professional disability care work environment.

Learning Objectives

Providing Individual Support

  • Provide support to meet personal care needs
  • Provide help with domestic duties
  • Help clients navigate the NDIS and gain access to other services
  • Empower clients to reach their independence and social inclusion goals
  • Use discretion and judgement in a variety of circumstances

Professional Soft Skills

  • Enhance communication, task management, and problem-solving abilities tailored to the specific needs of neurodivergent individuals.
  • Develop self-sufficiency and confidence, enabling participants to recognise when accommodations may be necessary and empowering them to request and utilize them effectively.

Target Group

If you have an interest in working with people, good communications skills, ability to multitask, a reasonable level of fitness and basic computer skills, you will do well in this role.

Eligibility

  • Australian Citizen, permanent resident or right to work in Australia.
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check (NPC) and NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC)
  • Up to date COVID vaccinations
  • Driver’s licence (preferred)

  • Duration: Cert III (6-12 months) including Soft-skills program (14 weeks).
  • Delivery: Online (Instructor-led)
